Lift through it
Strength training for women, coached 1-on-1 in downtown Vancouver. Through perimenopause, menopause and everything after.
The years everyone tells you to slow down are the years to get strong.
From your forties, muscle and bone are lost faster than they are rebuilt, and the pace picks up around menopause. It is why Osteoporosis Canada puts strength training at least twice a week.
What we work on
Strength, done properly.
- Heavy enough to count
- Real loads, built up week by week, every set logged in the Vanguard app. Pink dumbbells were never the plan.
- Bone, not just muscle
- Loading and impact work chosen for bone, progressed carefully, because that is what bone responds to.
- Training around how you feel
- Bad sleep, a hot flash, a sore joint. Tell your coach on the day and the session changes. The plan bends. It does not break.
- Pelvic floor and joints, handled properly
- We train around pelvic floor and joint concerns, and refer you to a pelvic health physiotherapist when that is what you need.
Down the hall
Your coach is not working alone.
Your coach, our naturopathic doctor and our registered dietitian work from the same plan, in the same building.
- Hormones
- Assessment and support with our naturopathic doctor.
- Fuel
- Protein, energy and recovery with our registered dietitian.
- Everything in between
- Massage, acupuncture and manual osteopathy for the aches that come with training hard.
- Recovery
- Infrared sauna, cold plunge and compression, included with training.
The room. Sessions are 1-on-1 or 2-on-1 and the floor is capped, so it stays quiet. Second floor, about 18 stairs, no elevator.
